About BenchSights

Born from experience. Built to fix what was broken. Designed to scale.

The Benchmarking Platform I Wish We Had

In 2010, I launched the original SaaS benchmarking survey—the first of its kind. It gave thousands of companies a shared language for performance and brought much-needed insight to a growing industry.

But I also saw the friction. Contributors had to re-enter the same data every year. The benchmarks quickly went stale. And there was no easy way to track how things evolved or what was truly changing over time. The process was incredibly tedious, manual, and fraught with questionable data. It wasn’t an optimal experience for the people providing data—or for those trying to make sense of it.

BenchSights is my response: a platform purpose-built to make benchmarking dynamic, continuous, and more useful for everyone involved. AI has helped us build this faster—and as the data set grows, it will absolutely help surface smarter insights.

But the foundational challenge AI doesn’t solve is this: how do you give people a safe, trustworthy view into the behavior of the population—real decisions, real performance, real change over time? That’s what we’ve built. A system for aggregating data in a way that’s anonymous, structured, and useful—without the usual survey fatigue or reporting lag.

We continue to focus on SaaS Metrics, but the opportunity is much broader. We now license this platform to others who want to offer real intelligence to their communities—turning their own anonymized data into powerful data-driven applications. Because in a world full of AI-generated content, the real competitive edge is unique content that's based on real data. BenchSights makes that possible.
